Château Larmande

One of the oldest wine estates in Saint-Émilion, with a documented history reaching back to 1585. It was acquired in 1990 by the mutual insurance group La Mondiale (today AG2R La Mondiale), which invested in the cellars and vineyard and steered the wine back to form in the 2000s after a quieter stretch in the 1990s. The estate is prized for some of the oldest, deepest-rooted vines on the Right Bank, a number of them over a century old.

About 20 hectares on the northern slopes near the Saint-Émilion village, on soils of clay-limestone, siliceous clay and ancient sand. A Grand Cru Classé, with a typical planting of roughly 65% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon. Winemaking in the mid-2000s leaned gently modern — around 65% new oak, with malolactic conversion split between barrel and tank — while keeping a clear sense of terroir.
